Add in the Darklands, Mountains of Mourn, and Cathay to the East (with a bit of a size increase compared to Game 3 map). I would shrink areas like the Empire and the Badlands which are currently massive, and expand out Lustria, the Southlands, and Naggarond to a level between their current ME implementations and Vortex. I think the best solution would instead be a moderate expansion. It sounds great on paper, but bigger is not always better. So no, I don't think having a massive scale map is a good idea. And that problem only gets worse as campaigns progress. And then once you get there, by those turns that region will be under the control of only a few races, so you'll be fighting the same battles across the same landscapes against the same enemies. Taking over Lustria and crossing the ocean to invade the Old World or Araby suddenly goes from a 70-60 turn affair to a 120-140 turn affair. Now you'll have to spend twice as much time in your starting continent. Now expand the scale out massively like in the map people have been posting on here. For me I don't even go that far in the majority of my campaigns, I'd typically expand out to a 2nd continent by the time I get bored and quit because it's at turn 100+ and I'm just grinding in the late game. And how dull it can get fighting the same exact factions in your same exact starting region/climate. And how long it took to get to that point. Now think about how many of those campaigns you actually got to go explore other continents. What does the average come out to, probably 70-80 turns? Maybe 100-120 for the more dedicated TW community? Think about how much time you spend on your average Mortal Empires campaign. While I think that the current Mortal Empires map is definitely too squished and has problems, people seem to think that the solution is just to make this hugely massive map that encompasses the entire Warhammer world on a massive scale.īut I feel like the people asking for this haven't spent much time thinking about it.
