A test from November 2020 will not count toward the 2021 testing requirement.Our aging sewage infrastructure needs $300 billion worth of repair, restoration, and/or replacement during the next 20 years, according to the 2013 American Society of Civil Engineers’ “Report Card on American Infrastructure.” Similar dire assessments apply to the underground pipes and culverts that divert stormwater. For example, devices tested in 2020, no matter when, must be retested in 2021.Reports must be submitted in a calendar year. All devices must pass inspection and reports submitted prior to the November 1st deadline.Notices of Violation will go out in November.A final notification will be sent the first week of October.A Third notification will be sent the first week of September.Follow up notification will be sent the first week of June.Initial notification will be sent the first week of February.Notices of required testing will be sent out to responsible parties each year.Testers renewing after December 31st will pay an additional fee. Testers must pass a recertification exam prior to December 31st of every odd numbered calendar year and pay a $20 fee. ![]() Tester certificates are valid from the date of issuance through a two-year cycle that ends December 1st of every odd numbered calendar year.To qualify as a certified tester, applicants must have a valid certificate of completion in a backflow assembly tester course, pass a CBJ exam with a minimum score of 75%, and pay a $20 fee.
